Inventory of Urban Health Related Data covering the Greater Toronto Area - Supporting Documentation

The Rapid Risk Factor Surveillance System (RRFSS)

The Rapid Risk Factor Surveillance System (RRFSS) is a method of monitoring key public health issues and collecting information on emerging issues, in various public health units across Ontario.   The purpose is to provide timely data, relevant to local public health needs.  A questionnaire is used to gather information.

The questionnaire consists of ‘core’ and ‘optional’ modules.  Core modules are asked by all RRFSS-participating health units.  They are identified on RRFSS’ website. In contrast, each health unit decides which optional module to ask.  Optional modules are not identified on the website and substantial information them (including which health units included them) is not available.

For a complete list of both core and optional modules, consult the Module Inventory (modules are listed in alphabetical order).

For more information about core modules only, search RRFSS’ website.  From the RRFSS homepage, select “Prevalence Data”.  This will allow you to search core modules according to Core Indicator, Survey Year and Public Health Unit.

For more information about RRFSS and its modules, browse the RRFSS website or contact the Ontario Coordinator, Lynne Russell (lrussell@cwhpin.ca).
